Direct indirect
Today in the following blog we will be discussing direct and indirect Speech. They express or portray the contact of different statements or questions that are made by people. There are only two ways to express the statements that are direct speech in which we will quote the statement as it is, as it was made and in the indirect speech we will quote the statement with a slight change in the words of the speaker. In the indirect speech, we don’t quote the direct words of the speaker.
Direct indirect of simple present tense Sentences
By the end of this lesson, you will know how to use these two types of speeches and will be able to express your words directly or indirectly. It is important for you to learn all these sentences so that it will help you in English speaking and good vocabulary.
| I am seeing my sister tomorrow. | میں کل اپنی بہن سے مل رہا ہوں۔ | He said he was seeing his sister the following day. | اس نے کہا کہ وہ اگلے دن اپنی بہن کو دیکھ رہا تھا۔ |
| I bought a car | میں نے ایک کار خریدی۔ | She said she bought a car. | اس نے کہا کہ اس نے ایک کار خریدی ہے۔ |
| Ali said, “Ahsan loves to eat fish.” | علی نے کہا، احسن کو مچھلی کھانا بہت پسند ہے۔ | Ali said that Ahsan loved to eat fish. | علی نے بتایا کہ احسن کو مچھلی کھانا بہت پسند تھا۔ |
| I am living in London. | میں لندن میں رہ رہا ہوں۔ | She said that she was living in London. | اس نے بتایا کہ وہ لندن میں رہتی ہیں۔ |
| He says, “I am ill.” | وہ کہتا ہے، ’’میں بیمار ہوں۔‘‘ | He said that he is ill. | اس نے کہا کہ وہ بیمار ہیں۔ |
| My parents are doing well. | میرے والدین ٹھیک کر رہے ہیں۔ | Ayesha said that her parents were doing well. | عائشہ نے کہا کہ ان کے والدین اچھے ہیں۔ |
| I was walking along the coastal line. | میں ساحلی پٹی پر چل رہا تھا۔ | He said that he has been walking along the coastal line. | انہوں نے کہا کہ وہ ساحلی لکیر پر چلتے رہے ہیں۔ |
| He said, “she goes to school daily.” | اس نے کہا، “وہ روزانہ اسکول جاتی ہے۔” | He said that she went to school daily. | اس نے بتایا کہ وہ روزانہ سکول جاتی تھی۔ |
| She said “the exam is difficult.” | اس نے کہا امتحان مشکل ہے۔ | She said that the exam was difficult. | اس نے کہا کہ امتحان مشکل تھا۔ |
| I had a headache yesterday. | کل میرے سر میں درد تھا۔ | You said you had a headache yesterday. | آپ نے کہا کہ کل آپ کے سر میں درد تھا۔ |
| Please don’t be late. | پلیز دیر نہ کریں۔ | He asked them not to be late. | اس نے ان سے کہا کہ دیر نہ کریں۔ |
| I haven’t seen Ann recently. | میں نے حال ہی میں این کو نہیں دیکھا۔ | She said that she hadn’t seen Ann recently. | اس نے کہا کہ اس نے حال ہی میں این کو نہیں دیکھا۔ |
| They said, “we love our county.” | انہوں نے کہا، “ہمیں اپنی کاؤنٹی سے پیار ہے۔” | They said that they loved their country. | ان کا کہنا تھا کہ انہیں اپنے ملک سے پیار ہے۔ |
| It’s too late | یہ بہت دیر ہو چکی ہے | He said that it was too late. | اس نے کہا کہ بہت دیر ہو چکی تھی۔ |
| I’ll see you later. | میں اپ سے بعد میں ملتا ہوں. | She said that she would see me later. | اس نے کہا کہ وہ مجھے بعد میں ملیں گی۔ |
| I write poems. | میں نظمیں لکھتا ہوں۔ | He said that he wrote poems. | انہوں نے کہا کہ وہ نظمیں لکھتے ہیں۔ |
| I’m going home. | میں گھر جا رہا ہوں. | She said that she was going home. | اس نے کہا کہ وہ گھر جا رہی ہے۔ |
| She said, “I write a novel.” | اس نے کہا میں ناول لکھتی ہوں۔ | She said that she wrote a novel. | اس نے کہا کہ اس نے ایک ناول لکھا ہے۔ |
| I don’t know what to do. | مجھے نہیں معلوم کہ کیا کرنا ہے۔ | Amina said that she didn’t knew what to do. | آمنہ نے کہا کہ وہ نہیں جانتی تھی کہ کیا کرنا ہے۔ |
| Everything will be fine. | سب کچھ ٹھیک ہو جائے گا. | Father said that everything was going to be fine. | باپ نے کہا کہ سب ٹھیک ہو جائے گا۔ |
| She said, “she works in daily news.” | اس نے کہا، “وہ روزانہ کی خبروں میں کام کرتی ہے۔” | She said that she worked in Daily News. | انہوں نے بتایا کہ وہ روزنامہ خبریں میں کام کرتی تھیں۔ |
| He said, “I am a football player.” | اس نے کہا، “میں فٹ بال کا کھلاڑی ہوں۔” | He said that he was a football player. | اس نے کہا کہ وہ فٹ بال کا کھلاڑی ہے۔ |
